Railway Bridge Stack Broaching Case Study

Posted by Piers Crane on

A test rig for a client needing to broach through 150mm+ of stacked steel plate, in one operation. This was successfully achieved utilising CarbideMax 200mm depth of cut TCT Broach cutters with a special stack cut Tooth Geometry to drill through each successive layer of plate without having to stop to have the slug removed.

The drilling had to be completed in the vertical overhead position for a Network Rail bridge strengthening project whilst under possession.
